One of my favorite ways to reuse old tires is to plant individual plants in the tires in the back of my garden. I particularly like to plant zucchini plants in them so that they can spread out and yet remain separated. The tire helps to keep the soil damp and the tire can be placed in any location and is a great way to kill weeds and clear a new garden area for the following growing season. You can compost in the tires during the winter and offseason. If you are planting potatoes, beets or other root vegetables in the tires, harvesting is easy, simply roll away the tire and find your veggies in the mound of dirt remaining.
